DONALD Trump has blamed Nancy Pelosi for failing to deploy troops on Jan. 6 after a bombshell report revealed he was involved in a “conspiracy” in the election.
The Jan. 6 committee of the House of Representatives has found that Trump was involved in a “multiple conspiracy” to overthrow the 2020 presidential election while investigating the Capitol riot.
Hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in violent scenes on Jan. 6 as lawmakers met to confirm the results of November’s election, leading many to believe American democracy was under attack.
Trump came under fire during the incident after firing off tweets questioning election results.
“Be smart Republicans. FIGHT!” the former president said online.
Later in the day, however, he took to Twitter to advise supporters to leave the Capitol peacefully, but one person had already died after being shot by Capitol police, while three others died of natural causes and a fourth died died of a drug overdose.
After the horrific incident, a committee was formed last summer to launch an 18-month investigation into the former president.
After interviewing more than 1,000 witnesses and holding 10 hearings, the panel found that Trump had a direct impact on events, the AP reported.
However, the former president, who recently announced a 2024 campaign, spoke out against the consensus on his outlet Truth Social.
“The highly partisan Unselect Committee Report deliberately fails to mention Pelosi’s failure to heed my recommendation for the deployment of troops in DC, to show the ‘peaceful and patriotic’ words I used, or the reason for the protest, voter fraud , to investigate. WITCH HUNT!” he wrote.
Pelosi, the outgoing House Speaker, published a foreword to the report, saying the findings should be a “firefighter’s call to all Americans: to be vigilant in protecting our democracy and to give a voice only to those who dutifully work in their defense of our Constitution.” .”
The report’s findings show that Trump and his advisers pushed to contest the results of the 2020 election.
In the two months between the election and the riot, the report states: “President Trump or his associates were involved in at least 200 apparent acts of public or private publicity, pressure, or condemnation directed against either state legislatures or state… or local election administrators. to overturn the results of the state elections.”
The committee noted that Trump constantly fueled unsubstantiated theories about bogus election results and encouraged his supporters to “fight like hell” ahead of the riots.
This latest update isn’t the only controversy surrounding Trump.
He was in hot water as it is believed a House committee will release his tax returns after years of keeping them private.
The GOP has also criticized the former president after MAGA’s poor performance in the 2022 midterm elections.
Trump is also in the midst of an investigation launched by the DOJ after the FBI dramatically raided his Mar-a-Lago resort to seize classified documents.
Despite this, he continues to question the criticisms, including the committee’s new Jan. 6 report.
The panel has recommended that the Justice Department investigate Trump for four crimes, including aiding and abetting a riot.
While the criminal reprimands have no legal authority, they are a final statement from the committee as Republicans prepare to take control of the House of Representatives.
