A NEW visual illusion has gone viral on social media as people try to figure out if circles are moving or staying put.
The illusion works by constantly changing the color and direction of the arrows, leaving you wondering.
When staring at the two circles, it seems that they are moving up and down, side by side, and even thinner and thicker.
However, what can confuse people on social media is the fact that the circles are changing color continuously.
This creates the illusion that they are moving on their own. But, they don’t.
Continuous video loops of colors around the circle can also be very deceiving.
After the author posted his work on social networks, many people commented with mixed opinions.
One person wrote: “I hid the arrows and the circles are still moving”.
The second one stated: “They don’t move, it’s not the arrows that are causing the illusion it’s the colors, and if you take a screenshot of the circles at any given point, you will see they don’t actually move except for the circles.”
However, another commented that color is not what causes the hallucinations as it still happens when converting to black and white.
And the fourth person thinks they’ve cracked it: “oh, I see what’s going on. The circles aren’t actually the rest of the circles, but flattened into ellipses along the horizontal and vertical axes. creates the illusion of movement along those axes.”
A fifth also added: “The outer rim changes! The way the gradient moves within the outer rims creates the illusion of moving or contracting.”
What do you think? Are the circles moving or staying the same?
