A YOUNG mother was allegedly murdered by two women who lured her into an apartment over a possible love triangle.
Ashley Bocanegra, 30, was mugged in a disturbing assault on her boyfriend that led to the arrests of two women, Georgia police said.
Antonetta Steves, 27, and Janine Gonzalez, 17, have been charged with the Bocanegra murder and aggravated assault and robbery.
Police said she lured Bocanegra into an apartment on Aug. 11 and attacked her in a fight stemming from a love triangle, Gwinnett County Police said.
Gonzalez’s brother had been involved with both Stevens and Bocanegra, and their relationship was the motive behind the attack.
The suspects also reportedly stole Bocanegra’s cell phone during the attack.
The mother-of-one suffered “serious injuries” from the fight and died in hospital, police said.
Bocanegra’s sister, Jessica Roche, told 11Alive that her sister had to be flown to another hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
“They broke her ribs and her liver,” Roche said. “She couldn’t breathe out of her mouth. They had to put the hose in.”
Bocanegra died before she could have surgery.
Gonzalez’s brother was also at the home at the time of the attack and had “injuries to his shoulders and back,” 11Alive reported.
The teenager allegedly told authorities her brother Stevens cheated with Bocanegra.
Bocanegra’s family described her in a GoFundMe created to help cover expenses as a happy person who is so “full of life.”
She is survived by her seven-year-old son.
“She was such a happy person who lit up the room as soon as she walked in,” the fundraiser said. “Ashley was born and raised in NYC and moved to Georgia for a better life for herself and her son.”
Stevens and Gonzalez are currently in prison without a bond.
