JULIAN Lennon once vowed never to sing his late father’s song “Imagine”.
He broke that promise on April 9, 2022 for an important cause.

On Saturday April 9th, Julian Lennon, 59, joined Global Citizen to raise money for Ukraine.
The international organization launched a social media rally to support its Stand Up For Ukraine campaign.
Julian was accompanied by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.
In the description of the YouTube video, Julian wrote:
“The war against Ukraine is an unimaginable tragedy…
“As a person and as an artist, I felt compelled to respond in the most meaningful way possible. So today, for the very first time, I performed my father’s song, IMAGINE, in public.
“Why now, after all these years? — I had always said that the only time I would ever consider singing ‘IMAGINE’ was when it was ‘the end of the world’…
“But also because his lyrics reflect our collective desire for global peace.”
Who is John Lennon’s son Julian?
Julian is John Lennon’s first son with his first wife Cynthia.
Born in Liverpool on April 8, 1963, he was the inspiration for some of the Beatles’ most famous songs, including Hey Jude.
Julian has produced a number of albums, his first being 1984’s Valotte.
He also had two UK top ten singles: “Too Late For Goodbyes” in 1984 and “Saltwater” in 1991.
Julian is also interested in photography and has produced environmental documentaries such as Women of the White Buffalo (2020).
The musician has a half-brother, Sean, 46, who was born to John Lennon and his second wife Yoko Ono.
Who Killed John Lennon?
The Beatles’ lead singer John Lennon was shot dead by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980 in Manhattan, New York.
Chapman was a fan of Lennon and pleaded guilty to murder.
He was sentenced to 20 years of life imprisonment.
Lennon was shot four times and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital – he was only 40.
Strawberry Fields, a memorial near where Lennon was shot, is in Central Park.
