Despite major controversy, the WB’s popular TV drama returns 20 years later with the original cast – but with a wild twist

A popular WB drama series returns with its original cast.
But 20 years later there is a big change.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a popular drama that ran on The WB from 1997 to 2003.
The series’ seven seasons became a cult classic.
The series starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Seth Green, Anthony Head, David Boreanaz, Michelle Trachtenberg and many other recurring stars.
Now fans of the series can relive it all again – so to speak.

Some of the original cast members – James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield Ford, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary and Danny Strong – are returning for an audio series.
Weekly entertainment I reported that Hunters: A Buffyverse Story will have Spike, played by James, the hero this time.
The Audible story is set 20 years after the series finale and will feature the aforementioned original cast members as well as Laya DeLeon Hayes.
It doesn’t appear that Sarah is returning.

THE SLAYERS
According to EW, The Slayers story begins with Spike going undercover in Los Angeles, California.
He tries to “convince the forces of darkness that he has returned to his evil ways.”
However, Spike’s cover is exposed by a 16-year-old and he ends up in a babysitting situation.
While the villain-turned-hero tries to find someone to look after teenager Indria, they meet experienced hunter Cordelia Chase, played by Charisma, from a parallel universe.
In this reality, Buffy, played by Sarah, never existed.
“And Cordelia needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… his old flame Drusilla,” played by Juliet, EW reports.
The Audible story begins October 12th.
THE CULT CLASSIC
The TV series “Buffy” is based on the 1992 film of the same name.
The series’ success spawned many spin-offs, including novels, comics and video games.
It followed Buffy Summers, the newest vampire slayer who fought against vampires, demons and other forces of darkness in the world.

Although Buffy wants to live a normal life, she learns that her fate is catching up with her and accepts it.
Unlike the Slayers before her, Buffy surrounds herself with loyal fans, whom she refers to as the “Scooby Gang.”
