Deontay Wilder CONFIRMS boxing’s return as the former world heavyweight champion unveiled a statue in his hometown

DEONTAY WILDER has confirmed he will return to boxing after unveiling a statue of himself in his hometown.
The American hasn’t fought since a devastating 11th-round KO loss to Tyson Fury in their trilogy fight last year.

This was Wilder’s second loss to the Gypsy King after their first bout ended in a controversial draw.
It remains the only loss in the former WBC heavyweight champion’s career.
But he left his fans guessing if they would ever see him in the ring again.
And now, as he attended an unveiling of the bronze statue in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the Bronze Bomber finally showed he’s ready to return.

He said, “I can’t stop here. I must continue my journey. i have to, i have to
“I definitely want to resume my career. I have a lot of other things to get out of the way.
“I’ll take my kids away when I come back because now I can enjoy my life the way I want to.
“I sacrificed so much to be in this position in my life, to be able to live my life the way I want to for the rest of my life.”

The 36-year-old, who has lost just two of his 45 fights, believes boxing needs him.
He added: “I’ve been asked a lot. So many people have said to me, ‘Come back, come back.’ I would say I’m back by popular demand.
“And the boxing business needs me. If there is a successful American champion, there is nothing like it.
“If not, you can see that it’s dead. There is a drought [the sport]. People know the difference now.”
Wilder hasn’t announced a date or opponent for his big return, but is still ranked No. 2 by the WBC.
And with Fury he has retired from the sport, an instant world title is far from out of the question.
