Deodorant drawn due to high levels of carcinogenic chemicals

TWO Suave products are being recalled over benzene content concerns.
High exposure to benzene has been linked to several types of cancer.

According to manufacturer Unilever, none of the recalled products contain benzene, but the review found that the propellant that the product sprays from the can contained unexpected levels of benzene.
The recalled products have been identified as Suave 24-hour protection aerosol antiperspirants with fresh and powdery scents.
Unilever and Suave products with the following UPC codes and expiration dates through September 2023 are the only items affected by the recall.
Suave’s 4-6 ounce aerosol cans have the UPC codes:
- 079400751508
- 079400784902
- 079400785503

The company said its 24-hour deodorant sprays were discontinued last year, but said it was for unrelated business reasons.
They were available in limited quantities in US stores and online.
Unilever said it has notified retailers to remove the recalled products from shelves.
It will also compensate consumers who purchased products affected by this recall.
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Unilever at (866) 204-9756, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST.
