DELE ALLI’s quest for a return to form suffered another hammer blow on Wednesday night when he was substituted in the 29th MINUTE while playing for Besiktas.
The former Tottenham and England international, 26, joined the Turkish giants in the summer after a dismal spell at Everton.
He started on the continent with a goal in his second league game before missing the next two games with a hamstring injury.
Since then things have been going downhill for the 2019 Champions League finalists.
In his five league games before the World Cup break, he managed neither a goal nor an assist.
Then, when he returned to the pitch in a cup game against third division side Sanliurfasport, he was sent off BEFORE the half hour.
And the home crowd seemed to boo him as he left the field.
Alli was replaced by fellow ex-Spurs Gedson Fernandes in one of two early changes made by manager Senol Gunes.
At the time of the substitutions, Allis Besiktas were 2-0 down in a stunning upset.
But an impressive second-half comeback saw the top-flight team turn things around and secure a 4-2 win.

Former Everton man Cenk Tosun scored a brace and another ex-Tottenham player Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was also on the scoresheet.
And the last goal was scored by Dutch international Wout Weghorst.
The 30-year-old star forward returned to Besiktas after scoring twice in his country’s dramatic penalty shoot-out loss to Argentina in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Alli was recently criticized for his poor performances by Besiktas sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci.
Kazanci told TRT Spor: “Nobody can answer if Dele Alli can do it at the moment.
“He works very hard. He’s a player who hit €100m (£87m) three years ago. He had a fall.
“Dele Alli works intensively. We had intensive discussions with him before signing him.
“Senol [Gunes] is famous for having returned many players whose careers were in decline.
“We hope he gets better in the second half of the season.”
Head coach Gunes also admitted Alli was “disappointing” and that he struggles with him, as he said earlier in the season: “I couldn’t influence the players.
“Now I can touch her easily, but we haven’t touched Dele Alli yet.
“Let’s not talk about Dele Alli as a player, but he falls short in terms of efficiency.”
