Deion Sanders calls off ‘sparring match’ between Robert Griffin III and LeSean McCoy after Russell Wilson tweet

WHEN primetime has its say, you’re listening—even if you’re a former NFL player yourself.

Such was the case on Friday, when a Twitter row between former quarterback Robert Griffin III and former running back LeSean McCoy appeared to have lasted long enough.

It all began Thursday night during the Denver Broncos’ yawning 12-9 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Gripping tweeted a screenshot of Broncos running back Melvin Gordon glancing at quarterback Russell Wilson, who has received a lot of criticism lately, asking his supporters to “Label that…”.

McCoy clearly found the tweet harsh and retweeted the image with the caption: “Damn bro, take it easy on him lol you’re living this moment a lot more than Russ”

It didn’t take long for the beef to heat up quickly between these two veterans with Griffin react: “Damn, are you still mad at me for hounding you in a game?

“Or have I had more rushing touchdowns than you have rushed and received this year? Or because you knocked Yal out of playoff contention in 2014?

“You’ve had a great career. Without injuries, I would have had a better one.”

Again, McCoy finished replying just minutes later, tweeting a screenshot of Griffin’s 2020 season stats with the caption: “[laughing emojis] would of could of BUT these are your NUMBERS [laughing emojis] (let RG3 COOK)”

But Griffin didn’t give in yet, reacting again With: “That Rollie Pollie @CutonDime25 BIG ANGRY that a 1-leg QB had more rushing TDs for half the year than he had combined pre-2012 TDs.

“Let that hatred out of your heart. How you let a guy cook you with those career stats this year AND on the air.”

But by this point, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders — aka Primetime — had seen enough.

Sanders retweeted Griffin’s earlier comment with caption: “Okay guys, that’s enough! We love you both and you two were really dominant. Let’s show love and not show hate. That little sparring match was fun anyway. But enough.”

Eventually, McCoy and Griffin both did as they were told and ended their argument.

McCoy retweeted Sanders with, “Wow PRIME dominant [eyes emojis] OG u kno @RGIII was TRASH [laughing emojis] He ran about 5,000 yards… If he played in your division, they would have given you a diamond jacket.

Meanwhile, towards the end of this bizarre debate, Griffin took a slightly different stance, saying: “The OG @DeionSanders has asked me to put down my cookbook and I will show him the respect he deserves. @CutonDime25 I wish you the best and God bless.”

And for primetime the matter seems closed now, tell Griffin: “Lolol, I love you man!”
