Dear Harry and Meghan, just a reminder, the anniversary isn’t just about YOU

LEGENDARY Sun photographer Arthur Edwards today makes an impassioned appeal to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan not to steal the spotlight as the country celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The couple and their children Archie and Lilibet are due to fly to the UK from California this week.

They are expected to take the youngsters to a meeting with Her Majesty in Windsor on Saturday.

But here, in an open letter to them, Arthur – who has reported on the royal family for more than 40 years and has received an MBE for outstanding service to newspapers – reminds the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that the celebrations are about she goes. . .

Dear Prince Harry and Meghan,

It is great news that you are coming to the UK to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

The'possessive' Meg is stoking concerns after she was seen'choking' Harry.
Meghan will for controversial reasons

But as I’m sure you both already know, this week’s historic Bank Holiday celebrations are all about commemorating Queen Elizabeth’s remarkable reign.

And with all due respect, this isn’t about the two of you.

I’m sure the Queen will be happy to see you both and Archie again, but most of all she’s happy to hold Lili in her arms.

Her daughter, who celebrates her first birthday on Saturday 4 June, is the only one of her 12 great-grandchildren that Her Majesty has not yet met.

And the historic photograph of the moment she meets the Queen – in other words, Lilibet meets Lilibet – will be a timeless and treasured image for the Royal Archives at Windsor.

Despite your misgivings, when you see your grandmother, Prince Harry again, you will find that Her Majesty is well protected and in safe hands.

I’m sure she appreciates the concern you expressed after your last private meeting on US TV, when you stopped by her on your way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.

This time, I hope you leave your Netflix crew behind and allow the Queen to take center stage during these four days of national celebrations of her unique 70-year reign.

We look forward to seeing you both join other members of the royal family at the thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.

Then join in the fun of this remarkable celebration for the remainder of the bank holiday – but remember, this isn’t about you, it’s about Queen Elizabeth II. It must be hard to accept that neither of you were there on Thursday’s flyby of 70 military aircraft will be on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

But as you know, the monarch has decided that only working royals will appear.

I’m sure you will understand and respect this decision as you have decided to leave the country and give up your royal duties. Meghan, I know you’ve struggled for two years to be a working royal and I realize it wasn’t for you.

You tried and now you have exactly what you wanted out of life, which is absolutely your right.

But the way you went about it — your version of events in that controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey — polarized the nation.

She and Harry appear to have split the generations. Millions of younger people see you as a victim who needed to be heard.

While those of us who are older think it was wrong to do that.

Remember, this Platinum Jubilee is about the Queen – and nobody else.

The British people will come by the millions – even in these trying times – to honor a 96-year-old woman who has given our country a lifetime of service and duty. A woman celebrating a milestone that will never be reached in our lifetime – or even in Archie’s lifetime.

A woman who has never let us down.

Please, Harry and Meghan, don’t let Her Majesty down and take a backseat for once. Let the true star of the anniversary shine.

Kind regards Arthur
