David Crosby had six children, including Melissa Etheridge’s two children

Rock musician David Crosby shared six children with different partners. He also fathered fellow musician Melissa Etheridge’s two children by being a sperm donor.

He was married to his wife Jan Dance for almost 36 years. They married in 1987 and shared a son. The singer and guitarist was reportedly surrounded by his wife and son at the time of his death.

Despite speaking out about aging and being unable to make music due to his age, David was due to perform in February 2023 with one of his sons, James Raymond.

David Crosby had six children

David welcomed his first child, James, with Celia Crawford Ferguson in 1962. He is a musician, just like his father. Just three days ago, he shared a picture of his father on his Instagram account, announcing their upcoming appearance.

His daughter Erika Crosby was born to him and his former partner Jackie Guthrie. She is said to have three of David’s grandchildren and they live in Florida.

David later welcomed daughter Donovan Crosby with Debbie Donovan. He told Fox News when the two didn’t speak much to each other.

Meanwhile, he and his wife at the time of his death, Jan, have a son together, Django. Apparently they were by his side when he died.

He fathered two of Melissa Etheridge’s children

David helped Melissa and her then-partner Julie Cypher have two children by donating his sperm.

Bailey Jean Cypher was born in 1997 and Beckett Cypher in 1998. Melissa’s second child, Beckett, sadly passed away at the age of 21 in 2020.

In a post shared on Twitter, she revealed that she lost her son to opioid addiction. The destroyed mother wrote: “My son Beckett, who was just 21 years old, was battling his addiction and finally succumbed to it today.”

After learning of David’s death today, she took to Instagram to mourn the loss of the father of her two children.

Alongside a picture of herself with David, she wrote in the caption: “Mourning the loss of my friend Bailey and Beckett’s birth father David. He gave me the family. I will forever be grateful to him, Django and Jan. His music and legacy will inspire many generations to come. A real treasure.”

Honors are pouring in for the late musician

The death of Byrds and Crosby creator Stills, Nash & Young has left a huge void in the industry and in the lives of his loved ones.

Former band member Graham Nash said in a tweet: “It is with deep and deep sadness that I learn of the passing of my friend David Crosby. I know people tend to focus on how explosive our relationship was at times, but what David and I always cared about more than anything else was the sheer joy of the music we created together, the sound that we have discovered together and the deep friendship that we have shared over all the many long years.”

LA-based publicist and public relations executive Danny Deraney tweeted: “Sometimes I pinch myself looking back at the people I worked with and admired as a kid. I have repeated David Crosby on several occasions. He was his own master. He could be argumentative, he could be a kitty. That was Cros. As real as it gets. A long time passed in 1969.”

Dead to Me star Christina Applegate announced in a tweet: “Tonight at 7pm PST my friends and the neighborhood will howl and then blast CSN to honor this beautiful soul and legend. If you do please send me videos RIP David Crosby!! We love you.”
