David Beckham’s Inter Miami hopes to lure superstar transfer targets with fantastic beaches and a celebrity lifestyle

DAVID BECKHAM’s Inter Miami project hasn’t quite gone to plan – but at least they can guarantee some sun.

The MLS club’s 2021 season ended on a whimper as the club missed the playoffs — with Phil Neville and company clinging to last in the Eastern Conference post-season after 14 games in 2022.

It was hoped that the arrival of former Manchester United team-mate Neville as manager could improve things this season – but they are still finding their feet.

The marquee signings of Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain set the tone before fizzled out. But Beckham’s dream is crystal clear.

Speaking at a press conference announcing the club’s formation, the former England captain revealed that he regularly talks to the world’s best talent to recruit them for his project.

Olivier Giroud, who has just signed for AC Milan, has recently been linked with a move to the club and has reportedly been offered a £4million flat to live in.

While even Lionel Messi has hinted he wants to play out his final days in the US – with Miami favorites to get his signature.

So what can potential transfer targets expect from life in Miami?

THE WEATHER

While you might have to be wary of the occasional tropical storm here and there, Miami’s weather is mostly perfect.

January averages around 20 degrees Celsius, while winter highs range between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius.

The rainy season begins in May and ends in mid-October, but temperatures range between 27 and 35 degrees Celsius and it’s insanely muggy.

Good job the football season starts in May otherwise it would be hell to play in these conditions.

THE BEACHES

They say life is a beach…Miami has several beaches from Key Biscayne to North Beach where top athletes can bronze daily.

There is 21st through 45th Street Beach that runs along the Miami Beach Boardwalk and South Pointe Park.

Some of the world’s best hotels and restaurants are nearby, so it’s the perfect location.

Those feeling active can head to Lummus Beach, where volleyball courts are available for rent or thatched huts for lounging.

Haulover Beach offers white sand and a choppy sea ideal for surfers.

On Tuesday evenings there is a food truck festival with live music and local food for the whole family.

THE RESTAURANTS

Fit for a king, Miami’s cuisine is ocean-influenced with plenty of seafood on offer.

Latin American food is key here, so most restaurants offer plenty of Cuban-influenced dishes — mostly meat-based.

The city’s most exclusive restaurants are Terrazza at the Shore Club Hotel, Zuma in the heart of downtown Miami, and Jaya at the Setai Hotel.

Jaya is a favorite of the likes of Jay Z and Bono whenever they’re in town, with menu highlights including a whole branzino for a reasonable £27.

Terrazza’s poolside Italian fare will draw plenty of footballers looking to fuel up on carbs.

While Zuma’s light Japanese fare will have weight-conscious footballers foaming at the mouth.

THE STADIUM

At the heart of Beckham’s Miami franchise is a super stadium for the best players in the world.

Located in the Overtown neighborhood near the Miami River, the 18,000-seat arena was initially a source of controversy among locals, who disagreed that a stadium should be built on the site.

Next to the stadium is a first class training center with first class facilities.

Rest assured, however, that it will be a state-of-the-art venue, not only fit for football, but also ready to host concerts featuring the world’s leading pop stars.

Interestingly, it won’t be the biggest stadium in the country, but it will certainly sell out week after week when Beckham is involved.

THE CELEBRITY CULTURE

After all, this lot can’t be wrong.

The world’s most famous faces choose Miami as their vacation destination and regularly flock here on their private jets during the summer.

Some celebrities even call Miami home, so any footballer looking to embrace celebrity culture should look no further.

Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Combs, Matt Damon and Jennifer Lopez all have lavish homes in Miami.

Most choose Star Island, so expect footballers to check out homes in this area.

With footballers making the transition to film and television, major productions are increasing in the city.

Could the team be featured in a future episode of The Rock show Ballers?

SPORTS CULTURE

Anyone moving to Miami needs to be aware of the sports culture that flows through the city’s veins.

Though the Miami Dolphins haven’t had Super Bowl success since 1974, they have deep roots in NFL history thanks to legendary quarterback Dan Marino.

The NBA team Miami Heat was the one-time home of LeBron James as they won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013.

They are also represented in MLB by the Marlins, who are co-owned by the great NY Yankee Derek Jeter and have won two world championships.

BAYSIDE MARKETPLACE

For shopping and dining, incoming footballers will look no further than taking a stroll along Bayside Marketplace.

Stretching along the bank’s bay walls, it features designer shops, chic restaurants, and a great atmosphere that encompasses everything that makes Miami great.

By the way, Miami Vice has often filmed episodes here, so if it’s good enough for Don Johnson…

OCEAN APPROACH

Undoubtedly, every big-name newcomer to Beckham will be driving a fresh engine.

With that in mind, you’ll definitely want to drive down Ocean Drive with the surrounding art deco hotels and bars.

The Clevelander Hotel, with its bar and huge swimming pool, is a great place to cool off in the hot heat.

You will be pissed not to be impressed by the architecture.

It is an amazing experience for every tourist and future Beckham contract.

So where do we register?

EVERGLADES

On the list of must-do things to do in Miami — and Becks doesn’t even have to sell the tourist paradise — is the Everglades.

Unlike anything else in the world, this is your best chance to see a crocodile swimming in its natural habitat.

The 3-acre wetlands begin in Orlando at the Kissimmee River and end at Lake Okeechobee.
