And owner Beckham has now spoken to Ronaldo’s representatives and has been told he is interested in a move to the United States.
Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi remains the No. 1 target for Becks’ MLS team.
But Ronaldo’s availability has alarmed the former England skipper.
We’ve revealed United are ready to tear up Ronaldo’s contract after his brutal criticism of the Red Devils in a bombastic TalkTV interview with The Sun’s Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo tried to divert attention from his club future while training with the Portugal squad in Lisbon ahead of his fifth World Cup.
But the 37-year-old, who accused United of cheating on him and said he had no respect for boss Erik ten Hag, incredibly claimed he must “remain humble” before heading to Qatar.
Ronaldo said: “We’re here to win and I think we have the squad to do it. But then there are a number of top teams out there with world-class talent, so we have to stay focused, stay humble, go out there and show what we can do.”
Ronaldo, whose World Cup begins a week from Thursday against Ghana, received an uncomfortable reception from club and country team-mate Bruno Fernandes, prompting talk of a rift between the two.

Portugal midfielder Joao Mario claimed: “I was in the dressing room at that moment.
“I’ve seen the pictures and it’s funny because sometimes it can be interpreted, but it was a joke between them. Bruno was one of the last to arrive and Cristiano asked him if he had come by boat. There is no problem between them.”
If Ronaldo is sacked by United, both Los Angeles clubs – LAFC and Beckham’s old club LA Galaxy – are keen, as are Inter Miami.
But Old Trafford legend Beckham in Florida could be big bait for the Portuguese, who is struggling to find a way out of Manchester.
And working with Miami boss Phil Neville is believed to be no problem, despite Ronaldo blowing up brother Gary in his explosive conversation with Morgan.
Gonzalo Higuain’s retirement at the end of the MLS season last month means there is a gap in Neville’s squad as Ronaldo’s salary demands are likely to make him the competition’s top earner.
Beckham remains keen on bringing Messi to the United States as the Paris Saint-Germain ace is heavily linked with a move to DRV PNK Stadium.
But ex-England skipper Beckham would jump at the chance to land Ronaldo.
The shock move would also go down well with MLS chiefs, who look to continue raising football’s profile across the pond as a new TV deal with Apple comes into effect next season.
