Kambosos Jr. shocked the world when he became the defending WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine champion in November, defeating Teofimo Lopez by split decision.

Discussions immediately began on Kambosos Jr.’s next opponent, with Vasyl Lomachenko being the early favorite for the fight in Australia.

But Loma’s decision to take time off from boxing following the Russian invasion of Ukraine allowed Haney to take a seat at the negotiating table.

Haney will travel to Oz after signing with Top Rank and Lou DiBella to fight Kambosos Jr. with all the marbles on the line – and without the presence of father and trainer Bill.
