Darren Drozdov dead at 54: WWE hero dies years after suffering a career-ending horrific injury

WWE Hero Darren Drozdov, who fought as Droz, has died aged 54.
The wrestling giants confirmed the sad news before SmackDown aired with a brief but touching tribute at London’s O2 Arena.
The American grappler joined Vince McMahon’s promotion in 1998 and worked primarily in the mid-card area.
The famous documentary Beyond the Mat, which revealed how wrestling went behind the scenes during the kayfabe years, showed the New Jersey native speaking with McMahon at WWE headquarters.
The chairman intended to promote him to puke as he proved he could throw up again on command.
Instead, Droz teamed up with WWE Hall of Famer Animal to form the new Legion of Doom as he was to be Hawk’s long-term replacement.
However, this initiative didn’t work and he teamed up with Matt Bloom, who also wrestled as Albert, A-Train and Tensai.
