Dark Souls 2’s is usually held in February but this year it has been moved to January.
Why? Elden Ring. With a new one FromSoftware upcoming games, a direct spiritual successor to Dark Souls nothing more and nothing less, not sure anyone wants to play the middle child of the trio. So to avoid burying Return to Drangleic under growing expectations, the community decided to hold it from January 16 to 30, but you maybe Continue to February if you want. Whether or not enough people do it to maintain a strong online activity is another matter entirely.
However, the event focused more on the Dark Souls 2 remake, Scholar of the First Sin. If you dive into the original, it’s unlikely you’ll get the same experience. However, it’s a cross-platform event – if you’re participating calculator, PlayStation, or Xbox, You can join. The game is not cross-platform, but people from all corners of the game will jump in to kill and help you, respawning online all over the world. So get your cracked red-eye orbs ready.
In addition to in-game invasions, PvP arenas, and summoning mechanics, players tend to organize their own unique online activities in each Dark Souls. One of them is the ‘fight club.’ It’s an honor system where you are summoned into a single player’s world to find a ring of glowing orbs around two other players. They duel. Whoever wins fights the next opponent, and so on and so forth.
The idea is that you sit back and watch until it’s your turn. Normally, if you don’t do that, everyone else – including the fellow red ghosts – will jump and kill you. Best not to ruin a nice vibe, huh? Many people have commented on the announcement post to say they will be hosting fight clubs, so you’re sure to find plenty if you opt in this year.
