Similar scenes took place in Kyiv, where locals climbed over wrecked Russian vehicles, including a tank.

One expert claims the conflict has reached a “state of attrition” – with Russian forces severely outnumbered 100 days into the ailing invasion of Ukraine.

Swedish economist and Russia expert Anders Aslund told The Sun: “At the 100-day mark, the war is at a stalemate.”

He continued: “Ukraine has all the soldiers it could need. It can mobilize up to a million men.

“Russia, on the other hand, has a shortage of soldiers. Since this is not technically a war, Putin cannot legally send conscripts.

“They’re sending more troops anyway, but they’re getting around that by calling them contract soldiers.

“However, if Putin tried to change the law, to force conscription, there would be massive resistance. For Ukraine, on the other hand, they will soon run out of ammunition and heavy artillery.

“Russia has tons of artillery. Although they lost many armed vehicles, tanks and planes, this has now turned into an artillery war.”
