Danny Rose could join five clubs after training at the National League Club before returning to football

FREE AGENT Danny Rose could have multiple clubs to choose from as he plots his next move.

The former England left-back, 32, has been without a club since the contract was mutually terminated at Watford in September.

He spoke for Sky Sports last week about old club Tottenham as they fell out of the Champions League against AC Milan.

Rose made 214 appearances for Spurs in 13 seasons at the club.

During this period he had loan spells at Sunderland, Newcastle, Bristol City, Peterborough and Watford.

He also won 29 caps for his country and played five times at the 2018 World Cup.

The left-back signed for the Hornets on a free transfer two summers ago but has only played nine games for the Hertfordshire side.

They were relegated to the league last season and now he is unemployed and free to join any club interested.

Here are five possible targets:

YORK CITY

We’ve revealed that Rose, who hails from Doncaster, Yorkshire, has been training with the National League side to build his fitness at this stage.

They are currently managed by interim boss Michael Morton, who joined the club as assistant manager in December having previously spent some time as lead coach for Leeds’ youth development phase.

He joined the Whites in 2005 while Rose was thriving at the club and is now tasked with taking the Minsterman to the top of the table where they currently sit 18th.

And the introduction of a former Premier League defender could be just the pick-me-up he needs.

SUNDERLAND

Rose already has experience playing for the Black Cats, who are pushing to make the championship playoffs.

Boss Tony Mowbray could see the addition of left-back as a worthwhile entry – and it’s not too far from his Doncaster home.

DONCASTER ROVERS

Which brings us to his home club.

Rose will no doubt have higher ambitions than League Two but he has previously revealed to Sun Sport how much he missed living in the North.

But if Rovers could persuade him then he could provide short-term relief on his local side.

INTERMIAMI

David Beckham’s side loves and ex-prem ace or two and would make Rose an attractive offer if they were interested.

But the standard of MLS could be a factor, along with the fact that it’s thousands of miles from his home in Donny.

AEK ATHENS

The Greek club were linked with a nosedive for Rose back in September.

Even if that didn’t materialize, as he continues to build his fitness, they could be a possibility for him again.
