And he had his wife by his side to cheer every shot as he won his first Grand Slam title on his three-year anniversary.
Now, the Russian is looking for a better record than last year at the Australian Open, where he lost to Djokovic in the 2021 final.
Who is Daria, the wife of Daniil Medvedev?
Medvedev is extremely private about his private life but he first met his wife Daria in 2014.
Daria is from Moscow, Russia.
The pair were married before he played in the Davis Cup for Russia back in September 2018.
Daria also played tennis but was unable to turn pro due to injury.

“She played tennis until she was 17 or 18, but because of an injury she couldn’t reach the level she wanted,” Daniil previously said.
“However, it’s great that she understands tennis. She knows that we can’t go shopping before the game. Understands that I can be busy from 8 am until evening.
“It’s probably not easy to get used to when you don’t understand tennis. It has helped me become better as a player and as a tennis player.”
