MAYIM Bialik has contributed to Jeopardy! Fans during Tuesday night’s Q&A session.
Her “staggering reaction” to a contestant’s story came as fan-favorite Ken Jennings announced he would be on hiatus for “MONTHS.”
Mayim, 46, hosts Jeopardy! this week he returned after Ken’s three weeks at the top – and on the May 10 episode there was a surprise new winner.
Mallory Kass, an editor from Brooklyn, New York, has underscored Danielle Mauer’s two-game streak – the latter defeating Canadian tutor Mattea Roach after her historic 23 games.
Hundreds of fans were stunned to discover Mallory had written the bestselling book series The 100 under the pseudonym Kass Morgan – which was even adapted into a CW series, one fan tweeted: “The author of the 100 is in danger?! ?!
But less literary, according to angry fans, was Mayim’s reaction to a viewer during tonight’s Q&A session.
Cherry Ignacio on the right podium, who didn’t win tonight, shared a story during the part of the show where the contestants told an anecdote about themselves – about autism research in graduate school.
Cherry explained she helped implement a new method to test children for autism using saliva instead of a blood stick.
“We developed a … screening test for autism, what makes it special is that a lot of kids who might be on the spectrum don’t like having their blood drawn. So our pivot point there… worked really well. “
Mayim, a neuroscientist, answered the candidate with a joke.

“I’m glad to hear that spitting into a tube went better than drawing blood,” the host said.
“KEN WOULD NOT SAY THAT”
Fans raged on Twitter at how Mayim handled the story.
“I only like Cherry for her #Jeopardy story. Mayim’s response to that not so much,” one wrote.
“It’s staggering how much worse JEOPARDY! is when Mayim Bialik hosts,” criticized another.
While Mayim’s mixed reviews are no secret, another fan wrote, “Ken could have had a more heartfelt response.”
Others noted that Mayim “slows down the game and her responses seem condescending.”
While a fifth wrote: “I love Mayim but she takes 3 seconds to say someone’s right.”
In fact, Double Jeopardy didn’t complete tonight due to time running out.
“I hate it when they don’t finish the board. Ugh,” a fifth wrote of the general way the actress handled the hosting.
KNOW HE’S COMING BACK?
Earlier this week, fans were stunned when Ken – whom many wanted to adopt forever – tweeted: “I’m returning the keys to talented actor, producer, writer and director (!) Mayim Bialik for a few months.”
We are lucky to have them! Thanks for watching and I’ll be back before the end of the season.”
Ken is currently sharing hosting duties with the Blossom actress and an official replacement for the legendary Alex Trebek will be announced this July at the end of Season 38.
Fans who have watched Ken navigate the “wilderness” over the past three weeks as Canadian champion Mattea became an internet sensation and half-millionaire (before taxes) in her unexpectedly impressive streak have been left stunned.
One wrote: “For a few months? I guess I won’t watch that long then.”
Another added: “You are so missed Ken! You just have to be the constant host! Why isn’t that clear to the powerful?
The show’s ratings almost doubled when Ken, 47, made his debut, hosting through contestant Amy Schneider’s two-month winning streak.
Amy and Mattea will both be at the Tournament of Champions in November.
Ken’s view count dropped in January after Amy left, but Ken still racked up a commendable 9.2 million views, beating the ratings of Wheel of Fortune and other competing game shows.
However, when Mayim, 46, took over her hosting duties for Jeopardy! College Championship in February, viewers tuned out and viewership dropped to 5.5 million viewers.
Mayim first became the new Jeopardy! Host, along with former Jeopardy! Producer Mike Richards, following Alex’s death in 2020.
But after Mike got caught in boiling water for comments he made on an old podcast and during other shows he produced, he resigned.
Mayim will return to host the game on May 11th as the hosting title is still on the board.
Mallory Kass, author of The 100 – which has a 4.4-star rating on Amazon with 2000 reviews as dozens of fans were shocked that she revealed her identity during the same Q&A segment – will also be aiming for her second win tomorrow.
