Cycling star Tao Geoghegan Hart has been hospitalized after a horrific accident that left worrying scenes at the Giro d’Italia

Former Giro d’Italia winner Tao Geoghegan Hart fell out of the race and was hospitalized amid horrific scenes.
The Ineos Grenadiers rider, who won the 2020 Giro, fell off his bike on a slippery descent on Wednesday, 70km from the finish of stage 11.
He was riding with his teammates including overall leader Geraint Thomas who also went down but managed to keep going.
British driver Geoghegan Hart, third overall, was treated by paramedics before being loaded into an ambulance.
Race favorite Primoz Roglic was also involved in the accident but was able to continue on the bike of a Jumbo Visma teammate.
Shortly thereafter, Movistar driver Oscar Rodriguez suffered an accident in which he came into contact with a road sign.
This year’s weather-related Giro has been marred by several high-profile cancellations, with former race director Remco Evenepoel having to retire after testing positive for Covid-19.
Wednesday’s stage is the longest of the race, a 219km ride from Camaiore to Tortona.
