Crystal Palace are preparing a £20m transfer offer for Conor Gallagher in January if the England star’s Chelsea dream is shattered

The midfielder got off to a rough start in his bid to become a Chelsea first-team player with a red card.

However, despite the Palace overtures behind the scenes, Gallagher wasn’t about to give up that easily either.

Palace have cash to bid for the England international on a permanent basis when the price tag is around £20million and extras and they will be struggling in January.

The Eagles are also waiting for Antoine Semenyo to become fully fit at Bristol City before making him an offer.

Transfer boss Dougie Freedman watched Semenyo in action yesterday after he refused to make a bid until he was being watched.

Semenyo was on goal form off the bench but has no game time after regaining fitness.

Gallagher joined Chelsea academy in 2008 at the tender age of eight.

The midfielder rose through the ranks in 2019 when he was promoted to the senior team.

The 22-year-old was then loaned out to Charlton, Swansea, West Brom and of course Palace.

Gallagher stood out at Selhurst Park last season.

In 39 appearances he scored a total of eight goals and five assists.
