Crysis 4 announced by Crytek
The leaks are real, Crysis 4 is happening.
After the first image of Crysis 4 online leak, Crytek has officially confirmed that a sequel in the first-person shooter series is indeed in development. From what we’ve been shown so far, the new chapter could be even more somber than the original trilogy.
Crytek dropped the official announcement trailer on YouTube today. “It’s time to go on a journey and be a hero,” the reveal says, showing us some hazy images of the nanoparticles and destroyed buildings. You can also see the Nanosuit helmet lying on the ground amidst the rubble.
Very little is known about Crysis 4 at the moment, other than confirmation that the hallmark of the series – the Nanosuit that gives you extraordinary combat abilities – will be returning. Crytek CEO Avni Yerli said that “currently the game is in early development so it will be a while” until players get to work on the project. Yerli hinted that “the team is working hard to bring you a true next-gen shooter” which means you should brace yourself for some of the dramatic visuals the franchise is famous for. .
The studio aims to listen to the community as the project’s development progresses to ensure “the sequel in the franchise lives up to all of your expectations.” With that said, “Crysis is hugely important to a lot of people,” and the team “is really anxious to reveal more details about what lies ahead.”
Not long before the official reveal, the first image of Crysis 4 was posted by Crytek China account on Chinese social networking site BiliBili, Eurogamer reported. It shows a harsh setting that suggests some sort of post-apocalyptic setting for the game. According to the description on the website, “Project ‘Crysis 4’ confirmed, opening a new nano battleground!”
The Crysis series began back in 2007 and received two sequels in the following years. The trio also has recently received remedial treatment, launched last October on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PC and Nintendo Switch. The package only includes single-player story campaigns with no multiplayer available to players.
