She was 20 weeks pregnant and expecting her fourth child, a baby girl.

Police found multiple stab wounds on her body and authorities said the fetus also did not survive the attack.

“She died in the car, and then they dropped her off on Fort Drive. I heard they stabbed my baby seven times in the stomach,” Breanna’s mother, Pamela Smith, told WTVM.

Within hours, police identified two murder suspects – Shallandra Freeman, 27, and Curteze Avery, 28.

They were arrested but online records obtained by PEOPLE confirm the couple are being held without attachment.

According to the documents, evidence was found at Avery and Freeman’s home linking them to the murder.

It was also determined that the two suspects and the murder victim had known each other for several years, according to the documents.

Authorities allege that Burgess was assaulted by the two suspects, but have not determined a motive for the murder.

“The incident was not a random act of violence involving strangers,” LaGrange police told the New York Post.

Burgess’ mother told WTVM: “[Burgess] would express on her Facebook how vulnerable she was.

“How she needed help, and I think people saw her opportunity and took it.”

Burgess’ aunt, Melissa Kurian, posted to GoFundMe to help pay for her niece’s funeral expenses.

The post wrote: “She didn’t deserve this and that was the last thing we expected.

“We have to take care of her funeral and the children left behind.”

A prayer vigil and balloon launch were held in honor of Burgess’ life on Friday, WTVM reported.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will also conduct an autopsy on the victim’s body.
