CRISTIANO RONALDO is reportedly looking to leave Manchester United in January and Erik ten Hag ‘will not stand in his way’.
The Portuguese legend was left on the bench in Sunday’s dismal 6-3 win at Manchester City – something the manager says he did “out of respect for his great career”.
Ronaldo looked frustrated as he watched from the dugout and The Telegraph now claims he is “hoping to get a train in January” after his attempt to leave in the summer failed.
Ten Hag was keen to keep the 37-year-old Portuguese by storm upon his arrival at Old Trafford.
However, that report now states that he is “open to letting him go” if an acceptable offer is received.
The veteran has been mostly on the bench after his controversial summer this season.
After failing to secure his exit, Ronaldo returned late to pre-season training.
That led to him being benched for the opening day loss to Brighton.
He was back in the starting XI the following week but he and his team-mates were humbled as they were beaten 4-0 at Brentford.
Ronaldo was then relegated to the bench and that coincided with United winning four games in the top flight.

He did get another Europa League opportunity, however, but drew a gap when the Red Devils were beaten at home by Real Sociedad.
But a week later, the superstar celebrated as he finally ended the season by scoring a penalty in a 2-0 win over Sheriff in the same competition on September 15 – which was his last appearance for the club.
Now his chances of more regular action seem even slimmer after Anthony Martial, who came on for him, returned from injury and scored twice against City.
