The cost of building Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement home has almost doubled to £17million.
The Manchester United ace, 37, had initially set aside £10million.
But the price has skyrocketed thanks to the cost of materials – and Ronaldo’s pursuit of perfection.
A well-placed source said: “He has strived for perfection throughout his football career and he wants the same off the pitch.
“He wants everything to be just right for him and his family.
“He will retire there after the end of his career and wants to be 100 percent satisfied with it.”
The home that father-of-five Ronaldo will share with his modeling partner Georgina Rodriguez, 28, is in Quinta da Marinha on the Portuguese Riviera.
Another insider said: “The original budget was around £10m but it’s now £17m.
“He spares no effort to ensure he and his loved ones are doing as well and as well as possible.
“There were some changes from the original project.
“But much of the price increase has to do with the increase in the cost of building materials.
“Everyone knows they’ve skyrocketed. It is a problem that does not only affect Portugal.”
Work on the property is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
It will have an indoor and outdoor pool and garage space for 20 cars.
It will also have two outbuildings to allow Cristiano’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, to stay.
