Cristiano Ronaldo ‘left Old Trafford before full-time and snubbed Man Utd party’ after storming tunnel against Spurs

CRISTIANO RONALDO leaving Old Trafford before the final whistle of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday night.

The Portuguese superstar, 37, stormed through the tunnel with a handful of minutes to go.

And The Athletic are now reporting that he completely left the ground before the game was over.

However, his absence did not spoil the celebrations in the dressing room as the players enjoyed a “lively” post-match party.

United boss Erik ten Hag had only made three of his five permitted substitutions but Ronaldo didn’t linger.

Ten Hag said: “We will take care of it on Thursday. I saw him leave but I didn’t speak to him after that.

“I don’t pay attention to that, we want to concentrate on this team, that was a great performance by all 11 players.

“Tonight we’ll celebrate the result and we’ll do the rest on Thursday.”

Ronaldo’s incredible pout took the shine off what Ten Hag felt was the best performance of his reign at Old Trafford.

The United boss was also asked if Ronaldo, 37, had permission to go to the dressing room early.

The Dutchman said: “To answer your question, we’re dealing with that on Thursday and what we saw tonight was 11 players defending, 11 players attacking. There was also a lot of momentum in attack.

“I have to say, I said 11 players, I have to correct myself, it was also a performance from the substitutes who played a good role.”

Ronaldo was slammed for his reaction to being substituted on early in Sunday’s goalless draw against Newcastle – and also threw a strop at Brentford in August.

He even drove home early after being substituted at half-time after a pre-season clash with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.

Ex-England defender Danny Mills said: “If he did that, it’s an absolute disgrace.

“I think that’s disrespectful to the team, the manager and the fans.

“They win 2-0. What can he complain about? If they lost 2-0 it still wouldn’t be right but I would kind of understand.”

“He clearly thinks he’s bigger than the club.”

Goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes in the second half gave United an impressive win – which would have been more convincing without Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris.

Ten Hag said: “It was the team’s best performance this season so far, we’re developing.”

Spurs were lucky not to be on the wrong end of a hideout and boss Antonio Conte worried about how they could compete with the top clubs.

He said: “I have to be honest, and most importantly, it wasn’t the first time for us, although the table is good, but every time we’ve played a game at a high level, we fight.

“I hear people say we’re title contenders and I think we need time.

“It’s right to analyze with the club why we have problems when we play this type of game where the level is very high.”
