Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘very happy’ at Man Utd and will have a ‘great season’, Mendes agent insists despite transfer links

And the chief added that the Portuguese forward will have a ‘great season’ and continue his scoring form.

There have been whispers of discontent surrounding Ronaldo and suggestions that he could leave the club, just months after a stunning return in the summer.

A Spanish newspaper joked that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is even ready to join Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona in an April Fool’s Day report while a return to the Bernabeu has also been mooted.

But on the day Ronaldo inspired Ralf Rangnick’s team to 3-1 win over Burnley, Mendes reiterated his commitment to his client at Old Trafford.

The agent told Sky Sports in Italy: “Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy at Manchester United.

“He will continue with great, solid performances as always in his career.

“It will be a great season for him, I’m sure.”

Ronaldo should have given United an early lead against Burnley but he glow when the goal is exceeded.

But after Scott McTominay’s finish and Ben Mee’s own goal, Ronaldo bounced back to score.

Ronaldo has now scored 14 goals in 21 appearances for the Red Devils this season.

That figure includes four of his five Premier League games in December as United continue their challenge to secure a top-four finish.

But there are still many who think the match is not good news for the club.

His body language during Monday’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle – groaning and berating teammates then sulking down the tunnel – left Gabby Agbonlahor angry at striker’s treatment of younger players.

The former Villa striker said: “That performance from Ronaldo upset someone for the whole game.

“Rashford and Greenwood’s form has dropped since Ronaldo.

“If I were Rashford, Greenwood and Sancho, I’d be scared to shoot. Every time they shoot, he’d raise his hand to say, ‘Why don’t you pass it to me?’

“I’m saying to myself, ‘Oh, why do we have to bring him here?'”

And there are also rumors of a power struggle between captain Harry Maguire and Ronaldo, who overlooked Portugal and is one of the greatest players of all time.
