CRISTIANO RONALDO has been overtaken by rival Lionel Messi for most club kit sales in the world.
Both players swapped teams last year, with Ronaldo, 37, returning to Manchester United from Juventus 12 years after joining Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Argentina ace Messi has joined forces with Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer to end his love affair in Barcelona.
In September, Ronaldo was well ahead of the 35-year-old in shirt sales at £187.1m – almost double Messi’s £103.8m.
But the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has since overtaken the ex-Sporting Lisbon ace, with PSG moving over a million ‘Messi 30’ shirts.
It is the first time in the club’s history that they have managed to outsource so many kits, with 60 per cent of their sales attributed to the striker.
According to Marca, Messi shirts have grossed over £800,000 in the first three hours after hitting shelves.
With the arrival of the 2021 Copa America champions, Les Parisiens moved its official club store to the Champs-Elysees to double its space.
Speaking to Spanish news outlet, PSG Chief Partnerships Officer Marc Armstrong revealed the impact of Messi’s arrival.
He said: “Demand has increased by 30 to 40 per cent and what can really slow it down is supply.

“When a signing of this magnitude happens, say Ronaldo to United, you would think he would be paid by selling shirts.
“But that’s not the case. They can’t produce a lot of extra kits.
“The agreement aims to guarantee very important minimum requirements, but we cannot meet the demand for Messi shirts. We have reached the cap.
“Nobody can meet this demand. We’re already selling a lot of jerseys, maybe more than any other team in the world for one player, and that takes us to the next level.
“We have a lot of demand for lifestyle products, sales with the Jordan brand are huge, but the demand grows even more when you sign a player like Messi.”
Armstrong also revealed that PSG made around £600m in revenue from bringing Messi to the Parc des Princes.
