He spent six years under Fergie – a period that earned him superstar status as he scored 118 goals in 292 games.

And the pair won a host of trophies together, including three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

Ronaldo then returned to United for a second time last year, albeit without Ferguson at the helm.

But the two reunited ahead of the Red Devils’ clash with Newcastle when Ronaldo received an award for hitting a whopping 700 league goals.

The Portuguese superstar, 37, scored in United’s 2-1 win over Everton last weekend.

It’s a milestone only achieved by Ronaldo and Josef Bican, according to FIFA’s records.

And for that remarkable performance, he was honored in front of Old Trafford fans when Ferguson came onto the pitch for a hug and a photo with Ronaldo.

David de Gea, who also won the Premier League title under Ferguson, was in attendance as was his 500 appearances award for United.

He is only the 12th player to make 500 appearances for the club.

And he kept a clean sheet on Sunday as Erik ten Hag’s side worked out a goalless draw.

Ronaldo failed to make the goalscoring chart, with the Real Madrid legend six goals away from 150 for United.

He has two out of 12 games this season so far.

Meanwhile, United’s draw keeps them outside the top four as Ten Hag’s side slip to three points behind Chelsea.
