Covid Control Center is missing business tax receipts at Edison Mall, Cape Coral locations

NEWS WINK

There is new information that comes from a WINK News investigation into the Centers for Covid Control. WINK News confirmed the company never received business tax receipts for operating the Edison Mall location.

The City of Fort Myers posted an official notice on its building, warning the company and employees that it could not open until further notice.

A business tax receipt lost at the Edison Mall test site raised questions; Does the Covid Control Center operate in Bonita Springs and Cape Coral undocumented in order?

WINK News cannot ask anyone in the Bonita Springs government to talk about business tax receipts over the phone or by email. Public records request has been filed.

Cape Coral responded and confirmed the Covid Control Center has no business tax receipts there.

A business owner in the same square where the Covid Control Center did the test in Cape Coral showed WINK News a zoning compliance fact sheet, which we then received from the city.

In the third bar down is the question, “Do you currently have a local business tax receipt?” The box is marked as no.

The same business owner said the Department of Health sent an investigator to talk to her.

WINK News has attempted to confirm that visit with the Department of Health but has not received a response.

WINK News has also reached out to the attorney general’s office to determine if they may be investigating. On Tuesday, the Florida attorney general said she was not investigating the Centers for Covid Control but was monitoring a federal investigation.

On Monday, WINK News learned that the FBI had raided the company’s Illinois headquarters. An FBI spokesman would not say why.

Following the WINK New report, the Bonita and Cape Coral site owner said he had sent notices to Cape Coral site operators warning them not to comply with city rules.

He sent that notice a day after WINK New’s initial report on January 10.

As of Saturday, January 15, the Cape Coral site appears to have been closed.

The Edison Mall and Bonita Springs locations are also likely to close.

WINK News contacted the Center for Covid Control but received no response.
