Covid cases drop on Thursday as most common symptoms change and side flow tests WILL remain free

Welcome the changes to the holiday rules
Recently, Britons were able to return to the UK without a Covid test to enter, provided they have been vaccinated.
The quarantine rule – which requires arrivals to be quarantined until they receive their test results on the second day – has also been scrapped.
And from tomorrow, Monday’s exam rules will change – and families will be able to save hundreds.
From 4am tomorrow, Britons will be able to do a lateral flow test instead of a PCR test, with the former having to be cheaper.
While NHS side-flow tests cannot be used for travel, they cost around £22 from private health firms – while PCR is at least £60 higher.
The government website states: “If you are eligible to be fully immunized to travel to the UK and you are due to arrive in the UK after 4am, Sunday 9 January, you can choose to have a flow test party instead of a PCR test after you arrive in the UK.
“If you are eligible to be fully vaccinated for travel to the UK and you are arriving in the UK after 4am, Sunday 9 January, you may choose to have a lateral flow test instead of a PCR test after you come to England.”
