Cops called freed sex offender pop star Gary Glitter’s bail shelter after vigilantes stormed the premises

COPS were called to the bail hostel where sex offender pop star Gary Glitter is being held after vigilantes scaled gates and stormed the compound.

Angry locals arrived yesterday when the place was shared on social media, berating those who were leaving.

They shouted at the passing motorists: “Warning, glitter is nearby” and shook the gates violently.

Two men ran onto the premises when a gate was opened before security personnel rushed.

One later climbed onto the gate.

Four police cars arrived at the southern England site and spoke to local people.

Glitter, 78, was released from prison on Friday.

A source said: “He’s happy but he won’t be going outside for a while.”
