CONOR MCGREGOR admits he is ‘counting down’ the seconds until he can kick his next opponent with a ‘steel bar’ in his foot.
The Notorious had a titanium rod – also known as an intramedullary nail – placed in his left leg a few days later break it in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July.
McGregor, 33, has made great strides in his recovery and is enjoying the opportunity to use his upgraded hardware.
In an impromptu Q&A on Twitter, he tweeted: “I can’t wait to wrap this steel rod in my leg across a future opponent’s neck!
“I’m counting down the seconds until I activate this weapon.”
The UFC poster boy is aiming to return in April to bouts and plans to return to the cage once he is released to fight his coaching partners.
He tweeted: “As soon as I’m notified, I’ll be right back.”
The Irishman then added: “I’ll be in full mixed martial arts in April. Easy!

“By then a comeback will be imminent. But I have to be patient. I will beat this!”
In October, McGregor’s manager revealed to SunSport that the Dubliner recovery is going better than expected.
Paradigm Sports Management CEO Audie Attar said: “He was ahead of schedule.
“We don’t just have X-ray results [back], [we got] our ultrasound results and CT scan results.
“And when I look at the X-ray myself, it’s healing really well.
“He’s only 10 and a half weeks after surgery and he’s walking.
“And he’s actually doing something we don’t want him to do like throwing the first throw against the Cubs.”
And Mystic Mac has informed his legion of fans that he will be ready to swing once his tibia is completely healed.
He said: “The fibula has healed completely. The middle part of the tibia is also developing good calluses.
“Now just have to be patient for it to form through the bone to the side of the tibia, where the larger fracture occurs.
“It’s getting there. Patience will win this race for me!”
