Conditions cool before temperatures drop over the weekend – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – We survived the heavy snowfall of 2022. While I’m mostly joking, it’s not every year that we see a blizzard with more than 7 inches of snowfall.

Officially, the total snowfall for the two days was 9.2″. Some snow was covered after the main snowfall but overall the day was what we expected. The total amount of snowfall is almost in line with what we forecast.

It’s great to see your forecast mostly verified, and we see that with our KDKA forecast.

Looking ahead, there are a few things you should know. Today will see some isolated sleet with temperatures throughout the 20th.

Morning temperatures will drop to their lowest around 10:00am

Then we should see temperatures warming above 20 in the afternoon.

Wind speeds will also drop to close to 5 in the afternoon, with wind chill values going from the upper teens to just above 20°.

Tomorrow, we’ll see temperatures warm up quickly, before temperatures actually drop by the end of the week.

As cooler air moves in behind the warmth, light rain and drizzle and then snow will hit places.

Areas south of Pittsburgh will be more likely to see light to moderate snow in the late afternoon and evening. More than an inch of snow is likely to fall on the west-facing slopes of the Laurel Plateau.

Temperatures began to plummet Wednesday night with Thursday’s peak expected to be in the 20s.

Thursday’s highs are likely to hit at midnight with temperatures dropping for the rest of the day.

Friday morning temperatures will drop to single digits. I noticed Pittsburgh’s morning temperature dropped to 3° on Friday.
