Collier County deputies investigate Wednesday’s shooting at the Golden Gate

COLLIER COUNTY

Authorities are investigating a shooting at the Alvista Golden Gate Apartments next to the Golden Gate Community Park in Collier County.

The shooting happened on Wednesday.

Collier County delegates are still looking for those responsible.

A woman was hiding behind a bush with her brother and uncle when the gunman opened fire. Her uncle was hit in the arm.

The trio were returning from the park when the shooting happened.

Another was in her home with a child when a bullet went through the wall.

People in the neighborhood are scared.

Not many people wanted to film but they described the area as quiet.

Sandra Barl, a resident who lives nearby, said she was worried.

“We never had that,” Barl said. “We’ve been here for over 25 years and we’ve never seen crime like we do now.”

Frank Angelillo said she was not bothered by the shooting.

“I have a permit to carry so it doesn’t bother me too much but it was a surprise because the area is normally very quiet,” he said.

The investigation is still open. Anyone with information is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
