Cobra Kai is arguably one of Netflix’s most popular shows, and many subscribers are eager to learn all about Season 5 as soon as possible.
The show, which began on YouTube, has quickly become a force to be reckoned with on the small screen. Not only is it able to outperform its competition, but the show has managed to grab the Emmys’ attention, as Netflix Original has now garnered four nominations and made the series a contender with a fighting shot after a simple reboot .
In addition to the recognition of the awards, the show has a large viewership and is an absolute fan favorite with many subscribers on the popular streamer.
Now that Cobra Kai With Season 4 in the books, fans are naturally wondering what the future holds. Well, that’s the good news Cobra Kai Season 5 is coming soon!

Cobra Kai season 5 release date
From May 6, 2022 we finally know when Cobra Kai Season 5 is coming! As announced during the Netflix is a Joke festival, alongside a new teaser trailer, we now know that the new season will be released September 9, 2022.
The first two seasons came out within about a year, with the first coming out in May 2018 and the sequel in April 2019. The third season and the first under the Netflix banner came in January 2021, the fourth season arrived in December of the same year.
Based on the release history, we thought so at first Cobra Kai Season 5 could be released in December just like Season 4, but considering the new episode has already wrapped up filming, it makes sense that we’d get it sooner.
In December 2021, Cobra Kai Creator Jon Hurwitz confirmed this on Twitter Cobra Kai Season 5 was complete.
Cobra Kai season 5 cast
We can expect the main cast of Cobra Kai to return for Season 5, which includes:
- Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso
- William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence
- Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz
- Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso
- Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene
- Jacob Bertrand as Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz
- Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso
- Peyton List as Tory Nichols
- Martin Kove as John Kreese
As of August 9, when Netflix released the first photos for Cobra Kai Season 5 we also know that Sean Kanan has also joined the cast, reprising his role as Mike Barnes from The Karate Kid III! He was a villain in the movie, so we’re guessing he could be one again on the show.
A big addition to the lineup for Season 4 was the only Terry Silver from The Karate Kid III. Each season they seem to bring back a major character from the franchise.
Oscar winner Hilary Swank starred in the fourth karate kid titled movie The next karate kid. She played a troubled teenager named Julie Pierce, who was also tutored in martial arts by the great and wise Mr. Miyagi.
Swank has expressed interest in joining Cobra Kaithe writers have acknowledged that Julie is canon within the Miyagi-verse in which the show exists, and Her name was discussed in the writer’s room. It would be great to see her in Season 5 or Season 6!
Eagle-eyed fans have also discovered that an actress named Annais Rojas has been added to the cast, but we don’t yet know who she’s playing. In January 2022, she took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the show.

After the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Terry Silver expands the Cobra Kai empire and tries to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence putting his karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must enlist the help of an old friend.
The season finale of Cobra Kai Season 4 was wild, which means Season 5 needs to be even more eventful. As for the plot synopsis, we’ll see what happens to Miguel when he goes off to find his father, and Johnny’s and Robby’s new relationship. Daniel and Chozen will form a team, but they may not have to worry about Kreese anymore. We’ll also be curious to see what happens between Miguel and Sam.
Cobra Kai Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg expressed on Twitter that he’s dating for Miguel and Tory, so the two’s reconciliation could potentially happen in Season 5.
One of the other co-creators, Jon Hurwitz, told Deadline (via TVLine) that Season 5 was “insane,” revealing that “the story will take a new course that no one can predict.” As for karate kid He also teased fans that “maybe some familiar faces will show up, maybe not.”
More recently, Hurwitz did a Twitter Q&A where he answered some of fans’ burning questions Cobra Kai Season 5. In a tweet, he served: “The season 5 finale is absolutely wild and unlike any of our other finales. We all love it.” When asked what happens in the finale, Hurwitz gave a simple but effective answer answer: “People get hurt.” That sounds so violent!
if Cobra Kai should contain characters from The next karate kid, which featured other big names like Michael Ironside, Chris Conrad and Walter Goggins, it would definitely be a fascinating way to continue the entertaining story. Additionally, Julie would be an ideal candidate to create a new faction to add to the drama of the series.

Is Cobra Kai season 6 happening?
At this moment, Cobra Kai was not renewed for Season 6, but we have reason to believe it likely will. During an interview with Collider in early 2022, Jon Hurwitz explained their plans:
“We never said from the beginning how many seasons there would be. I think we always assumed there was at least six on our minds, but we’re still finding out exactly how long that landing is for all the reasons Josh [Heald] called.”
During Hurwitz’ Twitter Q&A in July 2022, he clarified on a possible six seasons: “We were misquoted when we said there would be six seasons. We’ve said many times that we hoped there would be at least 6 seasons. But we will see.”
Fingers crossed Cobra Kai does not end with the forthcoming fifth part.
