AMAZON is increasing its Prime membership to $20 this month — but there’s a way to avoid that.
The e-commerce giant is raising the price of Prime membership for the first time since 2018.
On February 18, 2022, new Prime members will have to pay $139 to join Jeff Bezos‘club – up from $119.
After March 25, 2022, existing Prime members will also be paid at a premium of $139 per year on their payment renewal date.
In addition, the company is also increasing the monthly membership price. It will increase from the current $12.99 to $14.99 per month.
However, there is a way to avoid this price increase, and that is “give” yourself a membership.
Indicated by a User Slickdealsyou can gift yourself a membership to keep paying the price of $119.
You also don’t need to buy it back right away, which means you can avoid price increases for longer.
However, to enjoy the honored $119 price, you need to pay for the membership by March 25th.
When you purchase a “gift” membership, a receipt will be sent to the recipient.
You will need this to start your Prime membership at a time of your choosing.
Will membership decrease with this price increase?
Amazon Prime is one of the few services that is said to not see a sharp drop in membership as membership fees go up.
In fact, analysts note that many Americans can’t see themselves without Prime regardless of its price tag.
Neil Saunders, CEO of research firm GlobalData, told USA Today that he wasn’t surprised when Amazon raised the fee, calling it “long overdue.”
“Amazon is facing much higher costs and is still investing heavily in Prime, so there’s a real reason for the fee hike,” he said.
“While no one likes to pay extra, Prime is still a very attractive, value-for-money program that is widely used by most members.”
