Christmas tree on fire outside Fox News; Detained man: NYPD

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN – A man was arrested overnight by police after allegedly burning a Christmas tree outside the News Corp building. in Midtown Manhattan, according to the NYPD.

The FDNY said units responded shortly after midnight Wednesday to a report of a garbage fire, and arrived to find a tall decorated tree on fire.

Video from the Citizen App shows a Christmas tree engulfed in flames outside the Sixth Avenue building, where the Fox News network is located.

Firefighters were able to put out the burning tree, authorities said.

The FDNY said no injuries were reported and that firefighters were set up to investigate the fire further.

Police said a man in his 40s was detained in connection with the fire.

According to the NYPD, it is not known early Wednesday what was used to light the fire.
