Early life

Chris “Motionless” Cerulli, originally called Chris Thomas Cerulli, is a renowned metal singer whose fame and influence continues to grow. He was born on October 17, 1986 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Cerulli’s childhood was marked by adversity: his parents separated when he was still a child. Music became his refuge from the challenges of life and he found solace in it. During his high school years, he took the initiative to form his own band. Although he initially faced challenges establishing himself in the entertainment industry, he never let these obstacles deter him from his ambition.

Career

In 2005, Chris Cerulli formed the band Motionless in White and they started their journey by performing in various nightclubs. It was during one of these nightclub performances that they caught the attention of talent agent and producer Zach Neil. Impressed by her talent, Neil wasted no time and immediately signed her to his record label, Masquerade Recordings.

Their journey took off in 2007 when the band released their first EP titled The Whorror. This was the beginning of her musical career. Three years later, in 2010, they released their debut studio album titled “Creatures,” which received huge success, reaching number six on the Billboard Heatseeker Music Charts. The album’s first single, “Abigail”, was also very well received.

Over the years, Motionless in White continued to make a name for itself in the music industry with the release of several more albums:

Her most recent album, Scoring the End of the World, was released in 2022 and shows her continued commitment to her musical journey.

Family

In fact, the musician has two younger siblings: a brother and a sister. His father’s name is Jerry Cerulli. Interestingly, his brother also works in the family workshop alongside Jerry.

However, the musician has chosen to keep his mother’s name secret. During his formative years, Chris had the stressful experience of frequent conflicts between his parents, which caused him and his siblings significant emotional pain. The unrest in their household eventually led to his parents’ divorce.

In response to the turmoil in his life, he turned to songwriting to deal with his emotions. His early exposure to guitar lessons given to him by his grandfather at the age of eight played a crucial role in overcoming the challenges of his turbulent childhood.

Mental health battle

Cerulli struggled with mental health issues several times throughout his life. Prior to the release of MIW’s fifth album, Disguise, in 2019, the lead singer struggled with his mental health and personal identity for over a year. Normally reticent about his personal feelings in public, he turned to songwriting to express his innermost feelings. The track “Disguise” is a poignant example of how he poured his emotions into his lyrics.

During an interview with Kerrang magazine in May 2019, he explained: “I use lyrics to express the things that I don’t share publicly, and the song is about how I feel like I have to put that on all the time .” Mask, put on this disguise when I show myself. “I don’t feel like it’s accepted to talk to some degree emotionally or mentally about the things that I want to talk about, and that’s been a struggle for me and what I’ve been dealing with.” Cerulli pressed further stated that he felt like he was losing his true self, overwhelmed by the pressure to conform to another person.

In response to his deteriorating mental state, Cerulli sought help, encouraged by the advice of friends. He changed his perspective on therapy, recognizing its benefits and encouraging others to seek support for their emotional well-being. However, in 2020, his mental health deteriorated again, leading him to openly discuss his issues on social media and highlight the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues. Despite the progress achieved through therapy, he emphasized that it cannot replace the fulfillment that comes from pursuing one’s passion and confronting irrevocable regret. He challenged individuals to overcome societal expectations, embrace vulnerability, and prioritize real connections over fame and material success.

Family

The lead singer of MIW remains romantically linked and is currently single. He didn’t get married. Previously, between 2013 and 2018, he was in an intense, long-term relationship with Gaiapatra, a model and photographer. Furthermore, at some point in his dating history, he had a relationship with a woman named Callie.
