Clomiphene is commonly used as a drug to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating, but it can also increase testosterone levels in men, which is why it is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

As a result, the British Boxing Board of Control pulled the plug and refused to sanction the fight.

Benn has insisted he is a “clean athlete” despite failing the drug test.

Now rival Eubank Jr. was also subjected to further testing even after the fight ended.

The 33-year-old was greeted by a random drug test in his hotel room on the day the O2 scrap was postponed.

He continued Twitter: “I’ve just returned to my hotel room to be greeted by another random drug test…which, as always, I love to do.

“10 years and never let down a #CleanAthlete.”

Eubank Jr. has also apologized to his fans who bought tickets and spent money to travel to the event.

He tweeted: “Conor was caught using an illegal substance so the fight is over. I can not believe it.

“I really apologize to the fans and everyone who bought tickets, traveled and booked hotels, this shouldn’t have happened.

“He’s escaped his school days… for now.”

Matchroom issued the following statement: “After discussions with various parties, we have made the decision to officially postpone the fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

“It is undeniable that the British Boxing Board of Control’s decision to withdraw their sanction was procedurally flawed and without due process.

“That remains a legal issue between the project sponsors and the board, which we want to pursue.

“While there are legal ways to allow the fight to go ahead as planned, we do not believe it is in the interest of the fighters for them to be pursued at such a late stage, or in the general interest of the sport.

“As organisers, we take our obligations and obligations very seriously and a full investigation must now take place.

“We will have no further comment at this time and updates on ticket holder refunds will follow.”
