Cheslie Kryst, former Miss America 2019 and a More Reporter, lost on Sunday, TVLine found out. She was 30 years old.
The news was confirmed by her family, although they did not specify the cause of death. However, the New York Police Department confirmed CHEAP that it was a suicide death. Kryst was found on the sidewalk outside her apartment building in Manhattan early Sunday morning.
“In great devastation and grief, we share the loss of our beloved Cheslie,” her family wrote in a statement. “Her amazing light is an inspiration to others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cares, she loves, she smiles and she shines. Cheslie demonstrates love and service to others, whether through her work as a social justice lawyer, as Miss USA, and as a contestant. MC More. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague, we know her impact will last. As we reflect on our loss, the family requests confidentiality at this time.”
“Our hearts are broken,” added More in its own statement. “Cheslie is not only an important part of our show, she is also a part of our favorites. More family and emotional for all employees. My deepest condolences to all of her family and friends. ”
In addition to working as a news reporter, Kryst also appeared as a guest on Performances by Kelly Clarkson and Live with Kelly and Ryan, plus as a panelist on VH1’s Black beauty. More recently, she appeared as Miss USA in the Netflix series Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick. Colin in black and white.
