RB LEIPZIG are reportedly planning a move for Dinamo Zagreb’s Josip Sutalo to replace Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol.
Gvardiol, 20, was reportedly the subject of a £77m offer from the Blues late in the transfer window.
Then-boss Thomas Tuchel was keen to secure Gvardiol’s signature ahead of Man City before handing him back to Leipzig for the season, but a big offer for the centre-back was turned down.
Chelsea’s hopes for the star were then hit hard when Leipzig announced he had signed a new long-term deal until 2027.
But new boss Graham Potter is seen as an admirer and owner Todd Boehly is ready to return for Gvardiol after the Croatia international opened the door for a move to Stamford Bridge back in January.
Now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has fueled speculation by claiming that Leipzig are ready to nosedive Sutalo to fill the potential void left by Gvardiol.
He tweeted: “RB Leipzig are interested in Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Josip Sutalo. There are more than three clubs in the running, including English and Spanish clubs – as he is considered a top talent.
“Discussions on Sutalo’s next move will continue over the next few months.”
Croatia international Sutalo is two years older than his compatriot.
He came through the ranks in Zagreb and already has Europa League experience.

The centre-back made his Croatian debut in June’s 1-0 Nations League win against Denmark and has since won two more caps.
When asked about Chelsea’s interest and future earlier this month, Gvardiol said: “I’m happy in Leipzig, I still have a lot to learn and work on myself.
“I have people dealing with it, I didn’t think of a transfer.
“We’ll see what happens in winter.”
