Good morning Chelsea fans
Outgoing Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been accused of blocking the club’s eventual sale and jeopardizing his future.
In a notable escalation of pressure, sources close to the UK government have opened fire on Abramovich over the proposed sale condition.
Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly and his consortium were hoping to complete a £2.6billion takeover, with promises of a further £1.65billion by the end of this week for the stadium, academy and team building to spend
But the ongoing dispute between the Blues and DCMS over the deal’s final structure has now erupted into a serious issue.
A UK government insider expressed “significant concern” about the flare-up and suggested the viability of west Londoners could be at risk.
The source said: “There are pretty serious concerns in government that the deal could fall apart and that Roman Abramovich is ultimately ready to let Chelsea go under.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Andreas Christensen will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Tuchel is adamant he will be able to do without Christensen next season as he said: “We lose him.”
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the centre-back agreed a deal with Barcelona weeks ago.
The Germany boss confirmed the news while also revealing that the Denmark international had refused to play in the FA Cup final loss to Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.
And Chelsea are targeting Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, who is expected to leave the German champions.
So says The Guardian’s Jacob Steinburg, who reports the Blues have an interest in Lewandowski ahead of the summer transfer window.
Steinburg says Tuchel ‘loves’ the star striker, although Boehly’s consortium has yet to take on Abramovich, who is sanctioned and therefore unable to sign new players.
However, he says the west Londoners need to figure out what to do with Romelu Lukaku as he takes up space in the squad and on the payroll.
The reporter describes the prospect as “a long shot…but not impossible.”
Finally, new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been linked with a sensational fall for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante this summer.
The takeover disruption at Stamford Bridge has convinced various clubs that there are many star players up for grabs.
According to The Mirror, this has led United bosses including Ten Hag to believe a nosedive for Kante is a realistic proposition this summer.
The news comes after SunSport exclusively revealed that the west Londoners feared the midfielder would be one of many players on the way out of the club
