BARCELONA is said to be close to signing Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen for free.
Both players’ current contracts are due to expire in June, and it is unlikely they will sign new ones.
Chelsea are currently unable to negotiate a new contract due to Roman Abramovich’s sanctions imposed by the UK Government.
According to ESPN and Express, Barcelona are hoping that the Blues’ predicament will help them pursue the signing of the duo.
Azpilicueta is said to be keen on a move to Camp Nou, however there is a one-year extension option attached to his contract that could still be activated.
The Chelsea captain recently became the first player to win every trophy possible with the club, so it would be a huge loss if he leaves this year.
Meanwhile, Christensen has come very close to joining the Spanish giants.
Reports suggest that he has agreed a deal with the club, and the medical has been completed.
The Blues are not allowed to be involved in any transfer activity – they cannot sign new players or negotiate any player contracts.
Last week, it was announced that Abramovich had frozen all of his assets.

This means Chelsea cannot withhold any earnings.
They are not allowed to sell merchandise or match tickets, which has plunged the club into turmoil.
However, around 200 potential investors are said to be interested in buying the club.
British real estate mogul Nick Candy is said to be keen on investing.
