Chelsea ‘promise Thomas Tuchel will have FULL control of transfers after takeover as club copy Liverpool and Man City’

NEW Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has reportedly promised Thomas Tuchel full control over transfers.

The Telegraph claims American investor Boehly is keen to follow the business model of Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have turned their teams into European powerhouses in recent years.

The duo have built rosters based on their playing philosophy, which has resulted in a slew of silverware.

And Boehly is dying for Chelsea to follow suit under Champions League winner Tuchel.

Giving the German a say will allow Tuchel to finally build a squad perfectly aligned with his possession-based 3-4-3 formation.

And it should also put an end to expensive, wasteful transfers like the £97.5million flop Romelu Lukaku.

Sporting Director Marina Granovskaia and Technical Director Petr Cech will continue to handle transfers behind the scenes.

But instead of identifying signings and negotiating, they will now support Tuchel in delivering the players he wants.

The Blues boss is believed to have around £200million to play around with this summer.

A new striker will be on the cards should Lukaku be granted a return to Inter Milan.

Man City’s Gabriel Jesus and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele are both wanted by Tuchel.

And he’s also hoping to land a new midfielder, with West Ham’s Declan Rice a top target.

But Tuchel’s main concern will be to find at least two top-class central defenders.

Antonio Rudiger has already agreed to a free transfer to Real Madrid.

While Andreas Christensen will also join Barcelona for free.

Jules Kounde of Seville is believed to be on the verge of finally sealing a counter at Stamford Bridge.

Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig is meanwhile a candidate for the left chain of three.

Tuchel could still be pushing for at least one new full-back after injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell derailed Chelsea’s title bid this season.

James is also up for a new contract, as is Mason Mount.

And Edouard Mendy could also get a raise after an impressive first two years in England.
