According to The Guardian, The midfielder’s contract includes a £34.4m release clause.

The attacking midfielder has made 36 LaLiga appearances this season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.

Veiga’s runs from midfield and skillful finishing have led fans to dub him the “Baby Kaka.”

The move comes as new manager Mauricio Pochettino seeks to reshape his bloated Chelsea squad.

Chelsea’s interest in Veiga comes after the club failed in an ambitious move for Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Blues pulled out of the race after PSG offered the player a superior financial package.

The west London club denied a report L’Equipe that they are willing to buy a stake in Sporting to secure the deal.

Veiga’s potential signing comes amid reports that a number of Chelsea players will be signed this summer.
