Blues boss Thomas Tuchel gave a somber verdict on Kante, 31, speaking to Chelsea’s official site after the game.

The German said: “It looks like a muscle injury, an Achilles tendon.

“He [Kante] said he feels it pretty badly so not good.”

The midfielder had turned back the years with a sensational performance before leaving.

His performance was epitomized by his role in Chelsea’s second goal.

The Frenchman won the ball in Tottenham’s half before finding Raheem Sterling, with England ace Reece James to score.

The Blues collapsed without him in added time when they conceded a late equalizer from a Harry Kane header.

It is unknown how long Kante will be out but the Blues will have time to delve into the transfer market for another midfielder.
