Chelsea can still make money from contract rebel Andreas Christensen – with AC Milan are said to be interested in buying the Danish defender in January.

Christensen is in the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and has f try to come to terms about an extension till now.

The 25-year-old can freely negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs in January; leaves the Blues in a vulnerable position when it comes to the defender’s long-term future.

But it now emerges that Chelsea can secure them a fee for the central half in January, with Series A giants AC Milan are keen to strike a deal.

Based on Sky Italia, Milan is eager to capture Christensen to cover the injured Simon Kjaer – although they think the defender is more likely to extend his contract with the Blues than move elsewhere.

Kjaer has been ruled out for the rest of the season after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament last weekend.

And the Italian side are keen to sign his compatriot as a replacement should Christensen decide to continue amid his ongoing contract controversy with the Blues hierarchy.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel went public last week with his frustration over Christensen’s contract impasse – revealing that the defender has been looking for a deal.

Although Tuchel has said he wants to keep Christensen at the club, it remains to be seen whether Milan’s interest, and the prospect of charging a transfer fee for the defender following his indecision, will entice Tuchel or transfer director Marina Granovskaia to change their mind.

The German admitted that Christensen’s inconsistent stance played a part in his exclusion from the team, stressing that he hoped it would encourage the defender to commit to a new long-term contract.

“I don’t have any good news,” Tuchel said last week when asked about Christensen’s future.

“I understood a few weeks ago that Andreas wanted to be like me, that he wanted to be like the club.

“And that’s why, for me, it’s a no-brainer situation because everyone wants to be like I understand it.

“But we are waiting a long time for confirmation. And the demonstration of his actions on the field is in Andreas.

“He needs to act now and start the conversation because he told us he loved Chelsea, he told us he wanted to stay and be an important part.

“I think he’s the perfect fit and I think he’s not done here yet. His career here, so far is not over, [he] can still grow and become a big, big player.

“But, like I said, it’s on him, it’s on him. We want to commit and hopefully we’ll get it.”
