Chelsea flop Aubameyang becomes a league winner for the first time in his career after playing just EIGHT MINUTES this season

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG has become a league winner for the first time in his career – despite playing just eight minutes at Barcelona.

The Catalan club were crowned La Liga champions on Sunday night after a 4-2 away win at rivals Espanyol.

And Aubameyang could be recognized as part of the winning team despite his limited involvement in Barcelona’s successful campaign.

Before his unfortunate move to Chelsea last summer, Aubameyang came on for Jordi Alba in the closing minutes of Barca’s opening game against Rayo Vallecano.

That small appearance in the 0-0 draw alone could be enough to earn the striker credit for league victory.

In the Premier League, a minimum of five league appearances is required for a player to be included in the winning squad.

But that rule doesn’t apply elsewhere in Europe and means Aubameyang could join the La Liga tally as league winners.

It would be a bright spot for the star after a terrible season at Chelsea.

The 33-year-old only played 21 games for the Blues and contributed just three goals.

He was recruited by his former Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel to try and fix Chelsea’s long-standing scoring problems.

However, just weeks after his arrival, Tuchel was sacked and Aubameyang would watch Graham Potter, Bruno Salter and Frank Lampard take the helm in the months that followed.

But he still hasn’t managed to become a fixture for any of those managers and is unlikely to be at Stamford Bridge when new manager Mauricio Pochettino arrives.

Few would have predicted such a disastrous period after the striker showed outstanding form for Barcelona last season.

After joining from Arsenal mid-season, the former Gabonese international has scored 11 goals in 17 La Liga games.

The Spanish side have been linked with a move by their ex-forward, who joined celebrations of his former teammates following the El Clásico win over Real Madrid in March.
